Scientific Information - Abstract submission

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF SELECTED ORAL PRESENTATIONS AND POSTERS

Abstracts for posters and oral presentations are invited. 
Please follow some general information to submit an abstract to the ART’2011 Conference.



ABSTRACT SUBMISSION - INFORMATION
The abstracts must be submitted, from June 2010 till September 20th, 2010, only through the web site www.aipnd.it/art2011
Abstract submission will be closed on August 6th, 2010. In fairness to all potential authors, LATE ABSTRACTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 

To submit your abstract you have to create an account with a login and a password. The abstracts should be written in according to the following guidelines: 
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English. 
  • Title: bold capital letters 
  • n. 3 Key words are requested 
  • Authors’ names - Type the authors’ names in sequence, separated by commas. Each name must be followed by a superscript number as reference to each author’s affiliation. Indicate the corresponding author with an asterisk after the superscript number. 
  • Authors’ affiliations - List each author’s affiliation in one line, preceded by the corresponding superscript number. Add the e-mail address only for the corresponding author. Please make sure your email address is correct and up-to-date
  • Text - in Word format, 20-30 lines, maximum of 300 words (spaces not included)
  • Picture and tables are not admitted. 
The reception of any abstract will be confirmed to all corresponding authors by e-mail.
After submission, abstracts will not be accessible for corrections. 
The authors may express their preference about the form of presentation, but the Scientific Committee will referee all submitted abstracts and reserves the right to decide the form of presentation (oral or poster). 

Each Poster or Oral Communication can be presented at the Conference only if at least one of the authors has registered and paid for the requested registration fee. Each Author can present up to 2 papers.

Only fully registered participants will have their abstracts published in the Conference CD-ROM. Authors of accepted contributions will be invited to submit a paper for publication in the Conference Proceedings on CD-ROM.

ABSTRACT CONTENT
Abstracts should be a condensed version of the final presentation and include all significant findings. Write the text so readers who are not specialists will be able to appreciate the purpose of the study and understand the procedures and conclusions. The text, entirely written in English, must include short introduction and motivation of the study, including experimental procedures, main results and conclusions. It is not necessary to divide the text into sub-sections.

  • Techniques to measure and evaluate environmental damage and degradation processes (on stone, leather, parchment, paintings, wood, ivory, bone, metals, glass); measurement of the extent of damage caused by corrosion; atmospheric pollution; biodegradation; 
  • Development of analytical techniques for the study of the composition and decay of museum objects (ion beam analysis; irradiation and diffraction techniques; radiography and tomography; fluorescence spectroscopy); 
  • Measuring the effectiveness of newly developed protection, preservation and conservation procedures (slowing deterioration and damage; innovative coating; proper storage conditions and controlled environment: temperature, humidity, lighting, gas composition); 
  • Techniques to identify materials, provenance of raw materials and production details of objects (origin and supplies; studies of ancient production techniques; identifying trade routes); 
  • Authenticity and authentication of art and archeological objects (questions of origin; identification of fakes and forgeries). 
WORKING LANGUAGES 
The official language of the Conference is English. 
Italian can be used only for posters and short presentations. All abstracts, full papers and slides must be in English.
